Charity Auction and Dinner

2018 Annual Charity Auction and Dinner raises $78,000 for Children’s Treatment Centre

Another signature event for the Children’s Treatment Centre has raised tens of thousands of dollars to provide counselling services to child abuse victims in our community.

The call of the auctioneer filled the Cabaret Room at the Best Western Cornwall on Friday, February 9, 2018 for the Charity Auction & Dinner. In the end, $78,000 was raised for the centre.

The night featured a draw, donated by the Air Canada Foundation, for two economy class return tickets on any Air Canada scheduled destination in North America including Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean and $1000 Travel Gift Certificate donated by Donna Flanigan’s Travel by TPl. A surprised and happy Bonnie Wilson was the big winner in the draw which raised $6,250 toward the total raised. There were also 10 other draws for $50.

There were also 44 silent auction items and over 51 live auction items, sold off by auctioneer Peter Ross.

The live auction opened with a donation from Tony Lacroix from Love Love Food – five decadent cakes that went for a total of $2,925. The cake bringing in the highest bid was a double chocolate Dulce de Leche masterpiece for $950.

The big auction item of the night was two trip packages donated by John Wensink to St. Louis, Mo. to attend hockey and baseball games with a $1000 cash allowance. Each package went for $3,000.

Notably absent this year – though recognized by emcee and CTC President Don Fairweather – were Charity Auction & Dinner Committee Chair Jim Brownell and Honorary Chair Sean Adams. Both are recovering from hip surgery.

Congratulations to Bonnie Wilson, Winner of the Children’s Treatment Centre Dream Destination Draw and winners of the $50.00 Cash Prizes.
